lush gardens, eight gentlemen from different walks
of life met together to decide on forming a Historic Group. The group
had well thought of the future path of Bangalore - the growth of vertical
habitats, which hitherto was unheard of in the Princely City.
The eight
gentlemen were:

Mr. K. K. Malpani
Mr. Peter J. R. Prabhu
Mr. G. M. Sonawala
Mr. K. N. Narayana Iyengar
Mr. Arjun Menda
Mr. B. H. Ranka and Mr.D. Srinivasan.
The Association was formed to strengthen and
safeguard the interest of business groups involved in the activity
of Development of Multi - Dwelling Residential and Commercial
complexes.
The territory of operation
was hitherto unventured and the control systems not fully in place,
though was on record. The idea was also mooted to safeguard the interest
of common citizen, who ventures into the new concept of dwellings.
From being operative in one of the member's office, the association
was housed in a rented place. With the constant contribution from
its members, the association has a permanent office space in a prominent
business area.
The growth, surely consolidated the formation of a representative
body of developers and builders in the State of Karnataka. With the
slowdown in the construction industry in early 1995, the fly - by
operators vanished from the scene and the genuine members of KOAPA
continued working towards fulfilling the objectives. Membership to
KOAPA is more by Invitation and Personal Contacts to genuine, reputed
Developers and is processed through strict selection procedures. All
leading developers of Bangalore are members of KOAPA and take active
part in redressing all common causes.
The District level problems are addressed by KOAPA through its District
Association Membership route.
The elected members of KOAPA meet regularly to sort out vexing issues
affecting the trade and also make representations at various Governmental
Agencies and other Trade Associations. All the members meet at regular
intervals to exchange market information and to sort out pending issues.
